A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
COMPUTING A PROPOSED MILLAGE RATE FOR THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, FOR FISCAL YEAR
BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2002 AND ENDING
SEPTEMBER 30, 2003; DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO SUBMIT SAID PROPOSED MILLAGE RATE
TO THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PROPERTY APPRAISER
AND THE TAX COLLECTOR, TOGETHER WITH THE
DATE, TIME AND PLACE OF THE PUBLIC HEARING AT
WHICH THE CITY COMMISSION WILL CONSIDER THE
PROPOSED MILLAGE RATE AND THE CITY'S
TENTATIVE BUDGET FOR SAID FISCAL YEAR.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. A proposed millage rate for the City of
Miami, Florida, for Fiscal Year beginning October 1, 2002 and
ending September 30, 2003, is computed as follows:
General Operating 8.895
Debt Service 1.218
Total Millage Rate 10.113
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 200.065(2)(d), Florida
Statutes, the proposed general operating millage rate is
8.5 percent above the roll -back rate.
Section . The City Manager is directed to submit said
proposed millage rate for the City of Miami to the Property

Appraiser and to the Tax Collector, together with the date, time
and place at which the City Commission will hold a public hearing
to consider the proposed millage rate and the City,s tentative
budget for said fiscal year as follows: September 11, 2002 at
5:05 P.M. at the Manuel Artime Center, 900 Southwest lst Street,
Miami, Florida, and September 26, 2002 at 5:05 P.M. in the
Commission Chambers at Miami City Hall, 3500 Pan American Drive,
Miami, Florida.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.11

1� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at
the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution computing
a proposed millage rate for the City of Miami in the Fiscal Year beginning October 1, 2002 and
ending September 30, 2003, and instructing the City Manager to submit said proposed millage rate
along with the date, time and place of the budget hearing to the Miami -Dade County Property Tax
Appraiser and the Tax Collector.

BACKGROUND
According to the Sate of Florida's TRIM (Truth in Millage) law municipalities have to compute a
proposed millage rate and submit said rate to the Property Appraiser and the Tax Collector together
with the date, time and place of the public hearing at which the City Commission will consider said
proposed millage rate and tentative budget for said fiscal year.
