Funds for this purchase will be allocated from the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Project No. 313304, Account Code 289401.6.850, as funded by the Fire Assessment. BACKGROUND The Department of Fire -Rescue needs an open contract with a provider, on an as -needed basis, for the provision of scuba gear, tanks, boots, masks, fins, dive belts, knives, ropes, lights and other related diving equipment to replace missing, destroyed and or worn equipment utilized by the department dive rescue team and other emergency response personnel. Currently, the Department of Fire -Rescue has a dive rescue team that consists of forty-five (45) members that requires scuba type equipment in the performance of their duties. Other firefighters require first responder skin diving equipment. Due to the nature of Fire -Rescue work, damage and wear to scuba dive equipment is inevitable. The department is currently operating without any spare dive equipment and the existing equipment in service is old and in need of replacement. The Department of Fire -Rescue needs to fully equip the emergency rescue personnel and dive rescue team, not only to ensure the safety of the divers and citizens of the City of Miami but also to enable the team to function at peak efficiency in emergency rescue situations. Bids submitted by Austin's Diving Center, Inc., Divers Unlimited, Leisure Pro, Ltd., and Mermaids Diving Center were deemed as the lowest responsible and responsive bids and are therefore, recommended for award.
