KNIGHT INTERNATIONAL CENTER ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2002; AUTHORIZING THE WAIVER OF FEES AND PERMITS PERMISSIBLE BY LAW AND THE PROVISION OF SERVICES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $11,000.00; AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF FUNDS FROM THE SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT, CODE NO. 001000921054.289; SAID AUTHORIZATIONS CONDITIONED UPON THE (1) ORGANIZATION'S DESIGNATION BY THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE AS A 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION PRIOR TO THE EVENT TAKING PLACE, OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE, THE ORGANIZER CO -SPONSORING THE EVENT WITH A DESIGNATED 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION; (2) THE ORGANIZERS (A) OBTAINING ALL PERMITS REQUIRED BY LAW; (B) PAYING FOR ALL OTHER NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT; (C) OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER; AND (D) COMPLYING WITH ALL CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS AS MAY BE PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The waiver of fees and permits permissible by the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, and the J u L Q 9 ?002 ,�yi 2 V "-6V ly F, L; �. provision of services, in an amount not to exceed $11,000.00, are authorized for the American Life Line Foundation "Tribute To America", to be held at James L. Knight International Center on September 11, 2002, with the allocation of funds authorized from the Special Events Account, Code No. 001000921054.289. Section 2. The herein authorizations are conditioned upon the (1) Organization's designation by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) Organization prior to the event taking place, or in the alternative, the Organizer co -sponsoring the event with a designated 501(C)(3) organization; and (2) the Organizers (A) obtaining all permits required by law; (B) the Organizers paying for all other necessary costs of City services and applicable fees associated with said event; (C) obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager; and (D) complying with all conditions and limitations as may be prescribed by the City Manager. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.11 1� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. Dear Mr. Gimenez: On September 11, 2002, America's Life Line Foundation, a Non -Profit Organization, is hosting A Tribute to America - A Patriotic Event, one of our many Patriotic Events scheduled for this year. It will be a commemorative celebration, which will bring together Local Municipalities hosting one big event. It is also a dedication to our Armed Forces as well as all men and women in uniform who risk their lives every day for the brotherhood of man and for all Americans, to lift their spirits and show the world "We're America: Strong, Proud, Brave and Bold': This event, under the direction of Salvador Urdanavia formerly Director of Concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York, will be held at the James L Knight Convention Center. It will be a magnificent display of Patriotism, a showcase and collaboration of multicultural talent gathered from our Schools' Choruses and Orchestras, there will be close to one thousand children participating in this event as well as the men and women of uniform, to display their talents and perform along with several renowned guests, officials, and local talent the 218" Century Anthem and many other patriotic songs. It will not only be educational, entertaining and uplifting for our young, but for grown ups as well, from all walks of life. Miami will be the first City and birthplace of this Signature Event, which will engender similar events scheduled in various cities around the United States promoting Patriotism through the Arts in the 218` Century. There's a sense of urgency for this Patriotic Event to unite all Americans and bring back the Patriotism that has been lost in the last Century and we want you to become part of this one of a kind commemoration.
