HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-02-0764J-02-674 6/27/02 RESOLUTION NO. 02— 764 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ESTABLISH A RESERVE FUND WITH AVAILABLE TWENTY-EIGHTH YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FUNDS FOR PUBLIC SERVICES TO PROVIDE COLLABORATIVE ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS IN DISTRICT 5 PARKS FOR THE ELDERLY AND YOUTH; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO MEET WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD TO ESTABLISH AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING PROGRAMS USING SUCH RESERVE FUNDS FOR STUDENTS IN DISTRICT 5 "F" RATED SCHOOLS. WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission wants to provide activities and programs for the youth and elderly residents in District 5 with funding from available grants for public services; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is directed to establish a reserve fund with available Twenty -Eighth Year Community CITY COI IS3I0H MEETII-X btu' JUN 7 T 2002 Resolution 140. _A2=_ZfiJ- Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds for Public Services to provide collaborative activities and programs in District 5 parks for the elderly and youth. Section 3. The City Manager is directed to meet with representatives of the Miami -Dade County School Board to establish after school tutoring programs using such Reserve Funds for students in District 5 "F" rated schools.
