ENCLOSURES: List of Members, Resolution
The Code Enforcement Board was created to issue orders having the force of law commanding
whatever steps are necessary to bring a Code violation into compliance.
Florida Statutes Section 162.05(2) requires members of the Code Enforcement Board to be
residents of the City of Miami. City Code Section 2-812 states that whenever possible, the
board is to consist of an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a
subcontractor, and a realtor. Pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 162(3)(b), all members serve
three year terms.
Pursuant to City Code Sec. 2-886(a), any board member shall be automatically removed if, in a
given calendar year: (1) he/she is absent from three consecutive meetings; or (2) He/she is absent
from four of the board's meetings. The provisions of this section may be waived by a four-fifths
vote of the members of the full city commission.
Two appointments are needed at this time:
• The Commission At -Large has one appointment for alternate member seat currently
held by Paul Debesa, who exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code.
• Commissioner Sanchez has one nomination for vacant seat created because Rudy de la
Guardia, Jr. resigned.
For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the June 13,
2002 Commission agenda. This issue was deferred from the May 9, 2002 Commission meeting.

RE: CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD APPOINTMENT
Dear Joe:
I would like to thank you for appointing me to the City's Code Enforcement Board however, I
cannot accept the appointment. I will be the first to acknowledge the invaluable work that is done
by this Board but, I have already had the pleasure of serving on this Board and would prefer to
serve the City elsewhere. As you know my interest lie in serving on the Police Oversight Board
or the Zoning Board. Should you be interested in meeting with to discuss this request I will make
myself available to meet with you at your convenience.
Once again thank you for considering me as one of your appointees. I look forward to hearing
from you.
