BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Thomason City Clerk CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM DATE: May 15, 2002 23 SUBJECT: Code Enforcement Board June 13, 2002 Agenda REFERENCES: FILE: ENCLOSURES: List of Members, Resolution The Code Enforcement Board was created to issue orders having the force of law commanding whatever steps are necessary to bring a Code violation into compliance. Florida Statutes Section 162.05(2) requires members of the Code Enforcement Board to be residents of the City of Miami. City Code Section 2-812 states that whenever possible, the board is to consist of an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a subcontractor, and a realtor. Pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 162(3)(b), all members serve three year terms. Pursuant to City Code Sec. 2-886(a), any board member shall be automatically removed if, in a given calendar year: (1) he/she is absent from three consecutive meetings; or (2) He/she is absent from four of the board's meetings. The provisions of this section may be waived by a four-fifths vote of the members of the full city commission. Two appointments are needed at this time: • The Commission At -Large has one appointment for alternate member seat currently held by Paul Debesa, who exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code. • Commissioner Sanchez has one nomination for vacant seat created because Rudy de la Guardia, Jr. resigned. For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the June 13, 2002 Commission agenda. This issue was deferred from the May 9, 2002 Commission meeting. I will be the first to acknowledge the invaluable work that is done by this Board but, I have already had the pleasure of serving on this Board and would prefer to serve the City elsewhere. As you know my interest lie in serving on the Police Oversight Board or the Zoning Board.
