Walsh REFERENCES Way" ENCLOSURES: The City of Miami Street Codesignation Committee recommends that the City of Miami Commission adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the street codesignation of NE 21 Street from Biscayne Boulevard to Biscayne Bay as "Bryan 0. Walsh Way." BACKGROUND Monsignor Bryan 0. Walsh was most instrumental in getting Miami and other cities throughout the United States to open their hearts and homes to the oppressed people living in Cuba. He especially helped countless Cuban children to escape the communist dictatorship through his pioneering Pedro Pan (Peter Pan) program by getting hundreds of American families to serve as guardians to these children. A multitude of Cuban -American families, as well as the Miami community at large, owe him a debt of gratitude for his humanitarian efforts and tremendous impetus in the growth of this community.
