RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE ALLOCATION OF
FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $11,794,
TO COVER THE COSTS OF SERVICES PROVIDED BY
THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE -RESCUE
FOR THE 2002 INTERNATIONAL EXPOFEST TO BE
HELD JUNE 1-2, 2002; ALLOCATING THE FUNDS
FROM THE SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The allocation of funds, in an amount not to
exceed $11,794, to cover the costs of services provided by the
Departments of Police and Fire -Rescue for the 2002 International
Expofest to be held June 1-2, 2002, is authorized and directed,
with funds allocated from the Special Events Account.
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'/
1� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become
effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was
passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City
Commission.

RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended the City Commission authorize the allocation of $11,794.00 from
the Special Event Funds for Police and Fire services for the 2002 International Expofest to be
held at Miami Arena on June 1 - 2, 2002.
BACKGROUND:
Mr. Bennie Trinidad, Regional Executive Director of the National Alliance to Nurture the Aged
& Youth (NANAY), Inc., has requested a personal appearance before the City Commission on
May 23, 2002. NANAY is a non-profit organization that seeks to enhance the lives of our elders
and youth by providing supportive services and disseminating useful information to the
community. The proceeds from this event will be contributed to NANAY's endowment for the
purpose of underwriting existing and future programs.
I respectfully request that $11,794.00 be allocated from the Special Event Fund to the Miami
Sports and Exhibition Authority (MSEA) for Police and Fire Services.
