HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-02-0505J-02-469 04/25j02 RESOLUTION NO. 02— 505 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION RELATED TO THE ROOTS AND CULTURE FESTIVAL ("FESTIVAL") SCHEDULED FOR MAY 25-26, 2002, TO TAKE PLACE AT NORTH MIAMI AVENUE BETWEEN NORTHWEST 54TH STREET AND NORTHWEST 62ND STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ESTABLISH A "JOINT COMMAND CENTER" TO COORDINATE CITY OF MIAMI POLICE AND FIRE -RESCUE SERVICES; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO SEEK SUPPORT AND PARTICIPATION FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAY PATROL, MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, AND THE CITIES OF EL PORTEL, OPALOCKA AND NORTH MIAMI; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO REQUEST THAT MIAMI-DADE COUNTY WATER AND SEWER AUTHORITY ("WASA") PROVIDE REQUIRED PORTABLE GENERATORS AND LIGHTS FOR THE FESTIVAL; APPROVING THE DISPLAY OF PROMOTIONAL POLE BANNERS; AND AUTHORIZING THE WAIVER OF ALL FEES AND PERMITS PERMISSIBLE BY LAW; CONDITIONING SAID APPROVALS AND AUTHORIZATIONS UPON THE ORGANIZERS: (1) PAYING FOR ALL OTHER NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES FOR SAID FESTIVAL; (2) OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER; AND (3) COMPLYING WITH ALL CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS AS MAY BE PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY CO?,,UmTSSION YP'E-os t'T—,TG OF A!71 Z��2 Resolution No. 02- 505 Section 1. The City Manager is directed to establish a "Joint Command Center" to coordinate City of Miami Police and Fire -Rescue services for the Roots And Culture Festival ("Festival") scheduled for May 25-26, 2002, to take place at North Miami Avenue between Northwest 54th Street and Northwest 62nd Street, Miami, Florida. Section 2. The City Manager is directed to seek appropriate support and participation from the Florida Department of Highway Patrol, Miami -Dade County, and the Cities of E1 Portel, Opalocka, and North Miami for the Festival. Section 3. The City Manager is directed to request that Miami -Dade County Water and Sewer Authority ("WASA") provide required portable generators and lights for the Festival. Section 4. The display of promotional pole banners for the Festival is approved and the waiver of all fees and permits permissible by law is authorized, with said approvals and authorizations conditioned upon the Organizers: (1) paying for all other necessary costs of City services for said Festival; (2) obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager; and (3) complying with all Page 2 of 3 02- 505 conditions and limitations as may be prescribed by the City Manager.
