HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-02-0452J-02-309 4/4/02 RESOLUTION NO. 0 2 4 5 21 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING FUNDING OF CRIME STOPPERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, INC. ("CRIME STOPPERS"), IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $10,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, SUCH EXPENDITURES HAVING BEEN CERTIFIED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH SECTION 932.7055, FLORIDA STATUTES (2001) . BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The funding of Crime Stoppers Of Miami -Dade County, Inc. ("Crime Stoppers"'), in an amount not to exceed $10,000, is authorized, with funds allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, such expenditures having been certified by the Chief of Police as complying with Section 932.7055, Florida Statutes (2001). Section 2. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 932.7055(c), Florida Statutes (2001), the recipient, Crime Stoppers, shall (1) certify that the funds appropriated will be used lawfully and for the purpose stated, (2) be required to maintain proper accounting records for the expenditure of such monies, and (3) provide any reports, including, but not limited CITY COIWMISSION MEETINIG bF APR 2 5 2002 ja"O fission No. 02- 452 to, audit reports, as may be required by the City of Miami or applicable law. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized!' to enter into an agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with Crime Stoppers for the allocation of the funds. Section 4. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission. BACKGROUND Crime Stoppers of Miami -Dade County, Inc., is a not-for-profit community program. It is volunteer based and works with the public, the media, and local/state/federal law enforcement agencies in fighting crime.
