A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
AUTHORIZING FUNDING OF CRIME STOPPERS OF
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, INC. ("CRIME STOPPERS"),
IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $10,000;
ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT
TRUST FUND, SUCH EXPENDITURES HAVING BEEN
CERTIFIED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING
WITH SECTION 932.7055, FLORIDA STATUTES
(2001) .
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The funding of Crime Stoppers Of Miami -Dade
County, Inc. ("Crime Stoppers"'), in an amount not to exceed
$10,000, is authorized, with funds allocated from the Law
Enforcement Trust Fund, such expenditures having been certified
by the Chief of Police as complying with Section 932.7055,
Florida Statutes (2001).
Section 2. Pursuant to the provisions of Section
932.7055(c), Florida Statutes (2001), the recipient, Crime
Stoppers, shall (1) certify that the funds appropriated will be
used lawfully and for the purpose stated, (2) be required to
maintain proper accounting records for the expenditure of such
monies, and (3) provide any reports, including, but not limited

to, audit reports, as may be required by the City of Miami or
applicable law.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized!' to enter
into an agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney,
with Crime Stoppers for the allocation of the funds.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.�'

ii The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all
requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not
limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
zi If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at
the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution authorizing
funding, in the amount of $10,000, to Crime Stoppers of Miami -Dade County, Inc. Funding is to
be provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Florida State Statute Chapter .932.7055,
Project Number 690001.
BACKGROUND
Crime Stoppers of Miami -Dade County, Inc., is a not-for-profit community program. It is
volunteer based and works with the public, the media, and local/state/federal law enforcement
agencies in fighting crime. Crime Stoppers through its tip line; audio and visual media; and by the
print media offers rewards and anonymity to persons who furnish information leading to the arrest
and/or the filing of charges against criminal offenders.
