Funding is available from Operation C.A.R.S. Grant, Account Code No. 110063.290536.6.722. BACKGROUND The Police Department received a grant from the Florida Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention Authority to continue its efforts toward combating the lucrative crime of auto theft. In compliance with the provisions of the grant, the Police Department must conduct community presentations and Auto Theft Fairs to educate citizens concerning the importance of layering auto theft protection, such as, VIN etching, steering wheel inhibitors, alarms and tracking systems.
