By a four-fifths (4/5th') affirmative vote of the City Commission, the City Manager's finding of an emergency, waiving the requirements for competitive sealed bidding procedures and issuing Purchase Order No. 229119 to acquire fire ladder parts and services to repair "Squirt 10" fnr th,- Department of Fire -Rescue from Ten -8 Equipment, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $6,620.91, is ratified, approved CITY CODWSSION MEZMG 6F APP 1 S 2002 Bosolution 140. 02- 427 and confirmed, with funds allocated from Account Code No. 001000.280601.6.702. FILE :FM-019.doc SUBJECT: Ratify, Approve, and Confirm Emergency Repair of Squirt 10 REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: Resolution It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution ratifying, approving, and confirming the City Manager's finding of an emergency, waiving the requirements for competitive sealed bids, and authorizing the emergency repair of Squirt 10, from Ten -8 Fire Equipment, Inc., located at 2904 59th Avenue Drive East, Bradenton, Florida, 34203, a Non-Minority/Non Local vendor. The cost of this repair was $6,620.91. Funds were available from the Department of Fire -Rescue's General Fund, Account Code 001000.280601.6.702. BACKGROUND On December 13, 2001, Resolution No. 01-1317 was adopted and passed by the City Commission ratifying, approving and confirming the City Manager's finding of an emergency, waiving the requirements for competitive sealed bidding procedures, and approving the acquisition of fire ladder parts and services for the repair of Squirt 10 for the Department of Fire - Rescue from Ten -8 Equipment, Inc., for a total amount not to exceed $8,360. However, upon those repairs finally being completed, it was discovered that the Aero France Technician missed additional repairs to the fly section of the ladder, specifically. Therefore, additional repairs were needed to return Squirt 10 to service as soon as possible. This front line equipment is essential in providing adequate levels of Fire -Rescue protection for the City of Miami. SUBJEi, EMERGENCY PURCHASE REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES The Department of Fire -Rescue respectfully requests your approval for an emergency purchase in an amount not to exceed $6,620.91, for additional repairs to Squirt 10. In August, 2001, you approved the emergency repair of this vehicle in an amount not to exceed $8,360.00. These repairs were based on the information provided by the Aero France Technician who inspected the vehicle after the damages occurred. However, upon those repairs finally being completed, it was discovered that the technician missed additional repairs to the fly section of the ladder, specifically. Therefore, until these additional repairs are completed, the vehicle cannot be placed in service. It is imperative that these repairs be completed as soon as possible to place the vehicle back in service. Funds for this purchase are available from account number 001000.280601.6.702.
