A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS AS MEMBERS OF
THE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ADVISORY BOARD FOR
TERMS AS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individuals are
hereby appointed as members of the Equal Opportunity Advisory
Board, each to serve a term expiring February 8, 2003, or until
the nominating Commissioner leaves office, whichever occurs
first:

The Equal Opportunity Advisory Board was created to review and recommend to the City
Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City's affirmative action plan. The
board also reviews employment policies and practices of the City and makes recommendations to
the Department of Human Resources.
All 14 members' terms expired on February 8, 2002:
• Commissioner Winton has two nominations for the following seats:
1. vacancy created because Rasha Soray, who had been nominated by former
Commissioner Plummer, resigned;
2, Aldwyn Melton is currently serving.
• Commissioner Regalado has two nominations for the following seats:
1. vacancy created because Rosa Kasse resigned;
2. Alan Morley is currently serving.
• Commissioner Teele has two nominations for the following seats:
1. Charles J. Flowers who has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City
Code;
2. Dr. Laurinus Pierre who has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City
Code.
• Commissioner Sanchez has two nominations for the following seats:
I. Ivan Barrett who has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code;
2. Sam Mason is currently serving.
• Commissioner Gonzsilez has two nomination for the following seats:
1. Johnny Matthews, who had been nominated by former Commissioner Gort, and
who has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code;
2. Miriam Urra, who had been nominated by former Commissioner Gort and who has
exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code.
• The Coinmission At -Large is requested to confirm the following four nominations:
1. Henry S. Harrison, who was nominated by the Miami Association of Fire Fighters.
2. Officer Viona Brown, who was nominated by the Fraternal Order of Police.
3. Jessica Capo, who was nominated by AFSCME Local 1907 (for general employees).
4. Shad Fields, who was nominated by AhSCME Local 871 (for sanitation employees).

For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the
March 14, 2002 Commission agenda.
