A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS AS REGULAR
MEMBERS OF THE CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD FOR
TERMS AS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individuals are hereby
appointed as regular members of the Code Enforcement Board, each
to serve terms as designated herein:

The Code Enforcement Board was created to issue orders having the force of law commanding
whatever steps are necessary to bring a Code violation into compliance.
Florida Statutes Section 162.05(2) requires members of the Code Enforcement Board to be
residents of the City of Miami. City Code Section 2-812 states that whenever possible, the
board is to consist of an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a
subcontractor, and a realtor. Pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 162(3)(b), all members serve
three year terms.
Pursuant to City Code Sec. 2-886(a), any board member shall be automatically removed if, in a
given calendar year: (1) he/she is absent from three consecutive meetings; or (2) He/she is absent
from four of the board's meetings. The provisions of this section may be waived by a four-fifths
vote of the members of the full city commission.
Five appointments are needed at this time:
• Commissioner Sanchez has one nomination for seat currently vacant because David
Gonzalez resigned.
• Commissioner Teele has one nomination for seat currently held by James Keane, Jr.,
who has exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code.
• The Commission At -Large has three appointments for seats currently held by:
1. Allyson Warren (term expires February 11, 2002)
2. Charles McEwan (exceeded the number of absences allowed per City
Code)
3. Paul Debesa (exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code)
serving as alternate member
For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the March
14, 2002 Commission agenda.
