AFFIRMATIVE VOTE, RATIFYING, APPROVING AND CONFIRMING THE CITY MANAGER'S FINDING OF AN EMERGENCY, WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPETITIVE SEALED PROCEDURES, AND APPROVING THE ACQUISITION OF ELECTRICAL AND HYDRAULIC NOZZLE PARTS AND SERVICES FOR THE REPAIR OF QUINT 9 FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE FROM TEN --8 EQUIPMENT, ZNC., IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $5,500; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM ACCOUNT CODE NO. 001000.280701.6.670. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. By a four --fifths (4/5t") affirmative vote of the City Commission, the City Manager's finding of an emergency, waiving the requirements for competitive sealed bidding procedures, and approving the acquisition of electrical and hydraulic nozzle parts and services for the repair of Quint 9 for the Department of Fire -Rescue from Ten -8 Equipment, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $5,500, is ratified, approved and confirmed, with funds allocated from Account Code No. 001000.280701.6.670. Gimenez City Manager RECOMMENDATION DATE: FEB 2 6 2002 FILE : FM-O]O.doc SUBJECT: Ratify, Approve, and Confirm Emergency Repair of Quint 9 REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: Resolution It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution ratifying, approving, and confirming the City Manager's finding of an emergency, waiving the requirements for competitive sealed bids, and authorizing the emergency purchase of one (1) electrical and hydraulic nozzle for Quint 9, from Ten -8 Fire Equipment, Inc., located at 2904 59"' Avenue Drive East, Bradenton, Florida, 34203, a Non-Minority/Non Local vendor. The cost of this repair was $5,500.00. Funds were available from the Department of Fire -Rescue's General Fund, Account Code 001000.280701.6.670. BACKGROUND Quint 9 was damaged during the course of the firefighter's drilling exercises in October 2001. This vehicle is one of three remaining 1990 aerial trucks that are assigned to Fire Station No. 9 that support the front line fleet. It is imperative that these vehicles are maintained in top condition. Due to their age parts are difficult to obtain and relatively expensive they must be manufactured on an as needed basis. The City Manager made a written finding that an emergency situation existed and authorized the purchase of one (1) electrical and hydraulic nozzle to repair Quint 9 from Ten -8 Fire Equipment, Inc.
