A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, BY A FOUR --FIFTHS (4/5TH8) AFFIRMATIVE VOTE, RATIFYING, APPROVING AND CONFIRMING THE ACQUISITION OF ENGINEERING SERVICES, UNDER EXISTING CITY OF MIAMI PURCHASE ORDER NO. 221570, DATED JANUARY 7, 2002, FROM H.J. ROSS AND ASSOCIATES, INC., AN ENGINEERING FIRM INCLUDED ON THE APPROVED LIST OF CONTRACTORS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, TO ASSESS THE STATUS, WORKMANSHIP, QUALITY AND LABOR NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE REHABILITA'T'ION OF HOMES PARTICIPATING IN THE SINGLE FAMILY REHABILITATION PROGRAM. WHEREAS, as a result of concerns regarding the Single Family Rehabilitation Program, the City Commission instructed the Administration to conduct an in-depth analysis of said Program and to resolve issues and concerns relating to the Program; and WHEREAS, the immediate concern of the Administration was to resolve homeowner issues and complaints identified during its review of the Single Family Rehabilitation Program; and WHEREAS, to resolve homeowner concerns, it was determined that there was a. need to engage an independent engineering firm CITY COMMISSION 1r,: r-nTa 6'r n ? 2002 02- 238 to perform a comprehensive evaluation and inspection of individual Single Family Rehabilitation Program cases that had been identified to have problems and concerns; and WHEREAS, the Administration identified the engineering firm of H.J. Ross Associates, Inc., an engineering firm included on the approved list of contractors of the Department of Public Works, for this purpose; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. By a four-fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote of the members of the City Commission, the acquisition of engineering services, under existing City of Miami Purchase Order No. 2215`70, dated January 1, 2002, from H.J. Ross and Associates, Inc., an engineering firm included on the approved list of contractors of the department of public works, to assess the status, workmanship, quality and labor needed to complete Page 2 of 3 02— 238 • • rehabilitation of homes participating in the single family rehabilitation program, is ratified, approved and confirmed. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.!' DIAZ, YOR 1J If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was adopted and passed.
