BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. By a four-fifths (4/5th$) affirmative vote, after a duly advertise public hearing, the City Manager's finding of sole source, is ratified, approved and confirmed, the requirements for competitive bidding procedures is waived, and the procurement of twenty --two portable MTS 2000 and LTS 2000 series Motorola radios with the SMARTNETTI'l software system, with accessories, for the Department of Solid Waste from CIT 0" MAP 0 7 2002 lu'volutiva No, 02— 226 Motorola Communications And Electronics, Inc., sole source provider, in an amount not to exceed $57,307.70, is approved, with funds allocated from Capital Improvements Project No. 353018.329401.6.840. Funds are available in the Capital Improvement Program, Project No. 353018.329401.6.840. BACKGROUND: The Department of Solid Waste has identified a need to purchase additional portable radios for the Operational Division of the department. This equipment will enhance the overall communications within the Operational Division relative to equipment breakdowns, complaints and/or accidents in an efficient and timely manner. Additionally, this equipment will aid in the improved efficiency of equipment and manpower deployment to ensure improved service collection and/or special event cleanup activities. The Director of the Purchasing Department has determined that Motorola Communications and Electronics, Inc., is the sole manufacturer of the Motorola portable radios MTS2000 and LTS2000 Series (with SMARTNET Type ll software and required accessories).
