HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-02-0148J--02-106 1/24/02 RESOLUTION NO. 02— 14 8 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION RATIFYTNG, APPROVING AND CONFIRMING THE CITY MANAGER'S ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF FOOD FROM THE MCDONALD'S CORPORATION, WITH AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF $1,030, AND 361 TOYS FOR NEEDY CHILDREN FROM PAWA COMPLEX INTERNATIONAL, INC., WITH AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF $1,500, TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION, FOR THE ANNUAL "SNOW IN THE SUNSHINE" EVENT HELD ON DECEMBER 22, 2001 AT THE ORANGE BOWL STADIUM. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The acceptance of a donation of food from the McDonald's Corporat:ian, with an estimated value of $1,030, and 361 toys for needy children from Pawa Complex International, Inc., with an estimated value of $1,500, to the Department of Parks and Recreation, for the annual "Snow in the Sunshine" event held on December 22, 2001 at the Orange Bowl Stadium, is ratified, approved and confirmed. DI MAYOR 1-� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was adopted and passed. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall not become effective unless the City Commission overrides the veto. Gimenez City Manager ENCLOSURES: RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting a food donation of valued at approximately $1,030 from the -McDonald's Corporation and a donation of approximately 361 toys valued at approximately $1,500 from PAWA Complex International Incorporated, for use by the Parks and Recreation Department; said donations provided to the attendees at the Parks and Recreation Department's Annual "Snow in the Sunshine" event held on December 22, 2001 at the Orange Bowl. BACKGROUND: The Department of Parks and Recreation holds an annual "Snow in the Sunshine" event at the Orange Bowl where more than 424 children from the community enjoy food, rides, game master, music and several tons of snow. The McDonald's Corporation donated approximately $1,030 worth of food to help the City defray the cost of this event. In addition, PAWA Complex International, Incorporated, donated approximately 361 toys valued at approximately $1,500 for needy children, making this event a success. The adoption of this Resolution formally accepting said donations is hereby recommended. CAG/KR/AR/ s 02- 148
