A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
AUTHORIZING THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE LAW FIRM OF
WEISS SEROTA HELFMAN PASTORIZA & GUEDES, P.A.
FOR REPRESENTATION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI IN THE
CASE OF AMPCO SYSTEM PARKING, INC., ET A.L. VS.
CITY OF MIAMI, IN THE ELEVENTH JUDICIAL
CIRCUIT, IN AND FOR MIAMI -DADS COUNTY, FLORIDA,
CASE NO. 01-27582 CA (15), IN THE AMOUNT OF
$10,000 PLUS COSTS AS APPROVED BY THE CITY
ATTORNEY; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE
SELF --INSURANCE AND INSURANCE TRUST FUND,
ACCOUNT CODE NO. 515001.624901.6.661, FOR SAID
SERVICES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The engagement of the law firm of Weiss
Serota Helfman Pastoriza & Guedes, P.A. for representation of
the City of Miami in the case of Ampco System Parking, Inc., et
al. vs. City of Miami, in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, in and
for Miami -Dade County, Florida, Case No. 01-2$582 CA (15), in
the amount of $10,000 plus costs as approved by the City
Attorney, is authorized, with funds allocated from the

Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. I/

at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and
adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the city Commission.

The attached Resolution seeks authorization to engage the law firm of Weiss
Serota Helfman Pastoriza & Guedes, P.A. for representation of the City of Miami in
the case of Ampco System Parking, Inc., et al. vs. City of Miami, Eleventh Judicial
Circuit Case No. 01-27582 CA (15), concerning the implementation and collection
of the parking facilities surcharge, in the amount of $10,000 plus costs as approved
by the City Attorney.
Funds will be allocated from the Self -Insurance and Insurance Trust Fund,
Index Code No. 515001.624401.6.661, for said services.

RE: Proposed Resolution for City Commission Meeting — February 14, 2002
Financial review and approval for the engagement of counsel for representation of the
City of Miami concerning the implementation and collection of the parking facilities
surcharge
The attached proposed Resolution seeks authorization for the engagement of the law firm
of for legal services provided to the City of Miami in connection with a lawsuit concerning the
collection of parking surcharges; the case of Ampco System Parking, Inc., et al. vs. City of
Miami, Case No. 01-27582 CA { i 5), in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in and for Miami -Dade
County, Florida.
Funds in an amount not to exceed $10,000 plus costs as approved by the City Attorney
will be allocated from the Self -Insurance and Insurance Trust Fund, Index Code
No. 515001.624401.6.661, for said services.
Please indicate your review and approval herein below by affixing your signature and
return this original memorandum to Beverly Solomon, Administrative Assistant II, of this office
as soon as possible.
