J-02-062 01/17/02 RESOLUTION NO. 02— 78 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMTSSION, BY A FOUR-FIFTHS (4/5THs) AFFIRMATIVE VOTE, RATIFYING, APPROVING AND CONFIRMING THE CITY MANAGER'S FINDING OF AN EMERGENCY; WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPETITIVE SEALED BIDDING PROCEDURES AND ISSUING A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF FRONT SUSPENSION PARTS TO REPAIR ENGINE 58 FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE FROM TEN -8 EQUIPMENT, INC., IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $5,282.70; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM ACCOUNT CODE NO. 001000.280701.6.670. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. By a four-fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote of the City Commission, the City Manager's finding of an emergency, waiving the requirements for competitive sealed bidding procedures and issuing a purchase order for the procurement of front suspension parts to repair Engine 58 for the Department of Fire -Rescue from Ten -8 Equipment, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $5,282.70, is ratified, approved and confirmed, with funds allocated from Account Code No. 001000.280701.6.670. JAMS 1 11 2002 00= V 0 0 Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor'. Funds for this purchase were available from Account Code No. 001000.280701.6.670. BACKGROUND The Department of Fire -Rescue has a fleet of seven spare pumping apparatus. Two are assigned to the Training and Safety Division and the remaining five are available to support the front line fleet. It is imperative that these trucks are maintained in top condition. They are 1983 vintage vehicles and whereas parts are difficult to obtain and relatively expensive they must be manufactured on an as needed basis.
