A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
AUTHORIZING THE LEASING OF TWO VEHICLES FROM
INTERAMERICAN CAR RENTAL, INC. FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF POLICE, UNDER EXISTING CITY OF
MIAMI CONTRACT NO. 99-00-134, EFFECTIVE UNTIL
AUGUST 10, 2002, AND SUBJECT TO ANY
EXTENSIONS, WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR ONE
ADDITIONAL YEAR, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$18,360; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE LAW
ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT NO. 690003,
SUCH EXPENDITURES HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE
CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH THE U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY'S "GUIDE TO
EQUITABLE SHARING."
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The leasing of two vehicles, from
InterAmerican Car Rental, Inc. for the Department of Police under
existing City of Miami Contract No. 99--00--134, effective until
August 10, 2002, and subject to any extensions, with the option
to renew for one additional year, in an amount not to exceed
$18,360, with funds allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust
Fund, Project No. 690003, such expenditures having been approved

by the Chief of Police as complying with the U.S. Department of
the Treasury's "Guide To Equitable Sharing."
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.!'

1 if the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at
the end of ten calendar days from the date it was adopted and passed.
If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall not become effective
unless the City Commission overrides the veto.

RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution authorizing
the leasing of two (2) vehicles from InterAmerican Car Rental, Inc., located at 1790 N.W. LeJeune
Road, Miami, FL 33126, for the Auto Theft Unit of the Police Department, utilizing existing City
of Miami Bid No. 99-00-134, effective until August 10, 2002, with the option to extend for one (1)
additional year, in an amount not to exceed $18,360.
Funds are available from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Number 690003.
BACKGROUND
The Miami Police Department Auto Theft Unit will be utilizing the vehicles to conduct tactical
investigations under Operation Auto TRAP.

Budget, for the leasing of two (2) vehicles for the Auto Theft Unit's Operation Auto TRAP, from
InterAmerican Car Rental, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $18,360. Funding is to be provided
from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Number 690003.

REASON: The Department of Police has a need to lease
vehicles to conduct tactical investigations under
Operation Auto TRAP.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that award be made to
InterAmerican Car Rental, Inc., authorizing the
leasing of two (2) vehicles, for the Auto Theft Unit
of the Police Department, utilizing existing City of
Miami Bid No. 99-00-134103, effective until August
10, 2002, with the option to extend for one (1)
additional year, in an amount not to exceed
$18,360; allocating funds therefor from. the Law
Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 69003.
