HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-02-0059J-02-063 01/15/02 RESOLUTION NO. 02— 5 9 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE FUNDING OF OPERATION AUTO TRAP (TACTICAL RECOVERY AND APPREHENSION PROGRAM) TO ASSIST WITH INVESTIGATIVE COSTS FOR TARGETING AUTO THEFT CRIMES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $56,449.50; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT NO. 690003, SUCH EXPENDITURES HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH THE U.S. DEPAR'T'MENT OF THE TREASURY'S "GUIDE TO EQUITABLE SHARING." BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The funding of Operation Auto TRAP (Tactical Recovery and Apprehension Program) to assist with investigative costs for targeting auto theft crimes, in an amount not to exceed $56,449.50, with funds allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690003, such expenditures having been approved by the Chief of Police as complying with the U.S. Department of the Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing." ,CITY CovMPION 31 JAN � t.' 2002 022 ..�1'57db. 0 ME • • Section 2. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall not become effective unless the City Commission overrides the veto. Proposed Resolution REFERENCES : Operation Auto TRAP ENCLOSURES: FILE: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the funding of Operation Auto TRAP (Tactical Recovery and Apprehension Program), in an amount not to exceed $56,449.50. Funding is to be provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, U. S. Department of the Treasury, Project Number 690003. BACKGROUND The objective of Operation Auto TRAP (Tactical Recovery and Apprehension Program) is to decrease the number of stolen vehicles in the City of Miami and increase the number of auto theft related arrests. The monies requested will be utilized to defray the investigative costs for Operation Auto TRAP, as authorized by the Chief of Police.
