A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
DIRECTING THE LAW FIRM OF AKERMAN,
SENTERFITT & EIDSON, P.A. TO NEGOTIATE
SETTLEMENTS IN THE CASES OF (1) RUNNELS VS.
CITY, ET AL., U.S. DISTRICT COURT, CASE
NO. 00 -2930 -CIV -KING; (2) ALICE YOUNG, ETC.
VS. CITY OF MIAMI, ET AL., CASE
NO. 99 -2994 -CIV -JORDAN; AND (3) WILTSHIRE
VS. CITY OF MIAMI, ET AL., IN THE U.S.
DISTRICT COURT FOR THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF
FLORIDA, CASE NO. 99 -1958 -CIV -JORDAN;
FURTHER DIRECTING THAT AFTER NEGOTIATIONS,
COUNSEL IS TO REPORT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR
SETTLEMENTS TO THE CITY COMMISSION, AND IN
THE EVENT ANY OR ALL OF THE SETTLEMENTS
CANNOT BE NEGOTIATED, COUNSEL IS TO PROCEED
WITH TRIAL LITIGATION, AS APPROPRIATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The law firm of Akerman, Senterf:itt &
Eidson, P.A. is directed to negotiate settlements in the cases
of (I) Runnels vs. City, et al., U.S. District court, Case
No. 00-2930--Civ-King; (2) Alice Young, etc. vs. City of Miami,
et al., Case No. 99 -2994 -Civ -Jordan; and (3) Wiltshire vs. City
of Miami, et al., in the U.S. District Court for the Southern
District of Florida, Case No. 99 -1958 -Civ -Jordan.
Section 2. Counsel is further directed after
negotiations, to report recommendations for settlements to the
City Commission, and in the event any or all of the settlements
cannot be negotiated, Counsel is to proceed with trial
litigation, as appropriate.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'/

l� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at
the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If
the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately
upon override of the veto by the City Commission.

MEETING IS RECONVENED AFTER LUNCH RECESS AT 2:00 P.M., THE
COMMENCEMENT OF AN ATTORNEY-CLIENT SESSION, CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC, FOR
PURPOSES OF DISCUSSING THREE PENDING LITIGATION CASES RUNNELS VS. CITY,
ET AL., U.S. DISTRICT COURT CASE NO. 00 -2930 -CIV -KING., ALICE YOUNG ETC. VS. CITY
