HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-03-1019J-03-835 09/11/03 RESOLUTION NO. 93 — 1419 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION GRANTING A REQUEST TO EXTEND THE HOURS OF SALE FOR ESTABLISHMENTS DISPENSING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES FOR CONSUMPTION ON THE PREMISES (C.O.P.) DURING THE 2003 RUGBY WORLD CUP, FROM FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2003 THROUGH SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2003, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS CONTAINED IN SECTION. 4-2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, the RUGBY World Cup is one of the most widely watched sporting events in the world; and WHEREAS, the final competition for the 2003 RUGBY World Cup, will be held in Australia from Friday, October 10 through Saturday, November 22, 2003; and WHEREAS, the diverse citizenry of the City of Miami ("City") will be watching and celebrating this year's final competition via television from public entertainment and social establishments; and CETT COMMSMON OW—M O! SEP 1 1 2003 a w wwo N.. #j3-1019, WHEREAS, Australia is located in time zones that are fourteen hours ahead of our Eastern Standard Time and the final competition will be televised in the early morning hours here in Miami; and WHEREAS, Section 4-2 of the City Code provides that the City Commission may extend, by Resolution, the hours of the sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on licensed premises on special occasions; and WHEREAS, the City views the upcoming 2003 RUGBY World Cup as a special occasion and wishes to grant extended hours for the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages on the premises of establishments as set forth below during the final competition of the 2003 RUGBY World Cup; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Page 2 of 4 oA —1019 Section 2. The request to extend the hours of sale for establishments dispensing alcoholic beverages for Consumption on the Premises (C.O.P.) during the 2003 RUGBY World Cup, from Friday, October 10, 2003 through Saturday, November 22, 2003, is granted, pursuant to the provisions contained in Section 4-2 of the City Code, as amended, as follows: (A) Section 4-2 (c) (3) : Mondays through Saturdays 3:00 A.M. to 7:00 A.M. Sundays 3:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon a. Beer and wine bar, C.O.P. b. Liquor bar, C.O.P. C. Restaurant, liquor, beer and wine, C.O.P. d. Hotel, motel and apartments, C.O.P. with less than 100 guestrooms. e. Private clubs, liquor, C.O.P. f. Any of the establishments (above) in a retail or waterfront specialty center. (B) Section 4-2(c)(5) Mondays through Saturdays 5:00 A.M. to 7:00 A.M. Sundays 5:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon a. Nightclubs, C.O.P. b. Supper clubs, C.O.P. C. Hotel, motel and apartments, C.O.P., with 100 or more guestrooms. d. Any of the establishments (above) in a retail or waterfront specialty center Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.11 lj If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
