O 1006 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS AS MEMBERS OF THE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ADVISORY BOARD FOR TERMS AS DESIGNATED HEREIN. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following individuals are hereby appointed as members of the Equal Opportunity Advisory Board, each to serve an unexpired term ending February 8, 2004, or until the nominating Commissioner leaves office, whichever occurs first: APPOINTEES: Charles Cutler Yvonne McDonald Patrick Range, Jr. Anthony J. Thompson City Clerk CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA 38 INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM REVISED August 26, 2003 DATE: FILE SUBJECT: Equal Opportunity Advisory Board REFERENCES: September 11, 2003 Agenda ENCLOSURES: List of Members, Resolution The Equal Opportunity Advisory Board was created to review and recommend to the City Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City's affirmative action plan. The board also reviews employment policies and practices of the City and makes recommendations to the Department of Human Resources. Seven appointments are needed at this time: • Vice Chairman Teele has two nominations for seats whose terms expired February 8, 2002 and are currently held by: 1. Charles J. Flowers, who has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code; 2. Dr. Laurinus Pierre, who has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code. • Chairman Winton has two nominations for seats currently held by: 1. Vacancy because Michael Gongora resigned; 2. Aldwyn Melton, whose term expired February 8, 2003 and who has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code. • Commissioner Regalado has one nomination for seat currently held by Alan Morley who has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code. • Commissioner Gonzalez has one nomination for seat currently held by Albena Sumner, who has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code. • The Commission At -Large has one confirmation of a representative from the AFSCME Local 871 (Sanitation), Joe Simmons, Jr. For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we*are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the September 11, 2003 Commission agenda. This matter was deferred from the June 12, 2003 Commission meeting.
