Funding is available from the Department of Municipal Services, Heavy Fleet Division, Account Code No. 509000.420901.6.670 (FY'04). The approval for FY'04 funding is subject to the budget process, as such funding amounts have yet to be approved and/or appropriated and funding levels have yet to be established. BACKGROUND: The Department of Municipal Services, Fleet Management Division, has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No.02-03-134R. Nineteen (19) Invitation for Bids were mailed and one (1) response was received. ABC Radiator & Air, Inc. submitted the only responsible and responsive bid and is, therefore, recommended for the award. The Department of Municipal Services, Fleet Management Division, requires the provision of automotive radiator recoring and repair services for a wide range of heavy equipment such as: trash cranes, front end loaders, back hoes, portable air compressors, portable water pumps, stump grinders, street sweepers, and many other types of equipment in the City's fleet. Automotive radiator recoring and repair services include, but not limited to: cleaning clogged radiator by means of de -soldering the welds and passing special rods through the radiator core to remove obstruction; dipping of entire radiator in acid tank to soften and remove part or all obstructions; welding of holes in tanks or radiator core to seal leaks; pressurize the radiator with air and submerge in large water tank to check for leaks; and painting of the radiator. 03- 923 The Honorable Mayor and Members Of the City Commission Page 1 of 2 Repair service for automotive radiators is a highly specialized field which requires special tools, testing equipment, properly trained technicians, and a dedicated work area. Our current facility is not suitable for this type of service and thus the need to secure a contract.
