BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Thompson REFERENCES City Clerk ENCLOSURES: List of Members, Resolution The Code Enforcement Board was created to issue orders having the force of law commanding whatever steps are necessary to bring a Code violation into compliance. Florida Statutes Section 162.05(2) requires members of the Code Enforcement Board to be residents of the City of Miami. City Code Section 2-812 states that whenever possible, the board is to consist of an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a subcontractor, and a realtor. Pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 162(3)(b), all members serve three year terms. Pursuant to City Code Sec. 2-886(a), any board member shall be automatically removed if, in a given calendar year: (1) he/she is absent from three consecutive meetings; or (2) He/she is absent from four of the board's meetings. The provisions of this section may be waived by a four-fifths vote of the members of the full city commission. Two appointments are needed at this time: • *Chairman Winton has one nomination for regular seat currently held by Michael Gongora whose terms expired on February 10, 2003. • The Commission At -Large has one appointment for alternate seat currently held by Zenia Corral who has exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code and whose seat has been declared vacant by the members of the Code Enforcement Board. For your convenience, we have included a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the June 12, 2003 Commission agenda. *This matter was deferred from the March 27, 2003 Commission meeting.
