BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. By a four-fifths (4/5th,) affirmative vote, the City Manager's findings of an emergency (s), waiving the requirements for competitive sealed bidding procedures as described on the exhibit(s) attached are ratified, approved and confirmed, with funds allocated from the budgets of various user department accounts. Funding for this work in the amount of $65,000 is available from CIP Project No. 331368. The finding of an emergency is based on the fact that the existing lighting system at Moore Park is obsolete and requires replacement of all light fixtures. When lights go out, they cannot be replaced because parts are no longer: available. Therefore, we need your authorization to proceed with immediate ordering of light 'fixtures and installation through an informal bidding process so that current recreational activities are not disrupted. This item will be placed on a commission agenda for ratification as soon as possible after the work is completed. Gimenez DATE: 02 HE AmM 4:92, Ft. : City Manager sue.,scT : Emergency Finding for ' Simpson Park Building and Roof Renovations Albert Ru hector PEFrNs : t of Parks and Recreation£ � 02-03-n67ENCLOSUR_ The purpose of this memorandum is to request authorization to proceed on an anergeney basis to obtain informal bids for the following needed renovations at Simpson Park roof repairs (including the installation of related interior lighting fixtures) and handicapped accessibility entry improvements to the park building. The finding of an emergency for the roof is based on a recent inspection by Public Works Department Structural Engineer Juan Ordonez that revealed that approximately thirty- three (33) joists of the roof fiame were in such rotting condition that they presented a safety hazard to those who utilize the park. Since the roof work will also entail replacing the existing ceiling, it would be cost efficient to replace the interior lighting at the same tune. This will also ensure that the building has the appropriate indoor u -0111L It is also essential to proceed on an emergency basis to complete handicapped accessibility entry itnptovementS into the park building. This has been a source of complaints and will provide access to the building to our disabled citizens. Funding in the amount not to exceed S191,815 is available from CII' Project No. 331346 for these improvements- In accordance with the recently enacted procurement ordinance, items requiring City Commission ratification will be placed on the next available agenda as soon as possible ager the work is completed. .
