BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. By a four-fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote, the City Manager's findings of an emergency(s), waiving the requirements for competitive sealed bidding procedures as described on the exhibit(s) attached are ratified, approved and confirmed, with funds allocated from the budgets of various user department accounts. Bryson, Director Department of Fire -Rescue DATE: SeptembeL, 2UU 8' S I FILE: FM-129.doc SUBJECT: Emergency Purchase Firefighting Hoses REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: The Department of Fire -Rescue respectfully requests an emergency increase to Resolution No. 01-212 to replace firefighting hoses that were damaged during the October 3, 2000 flood from Elite Fire & Safety Equipment, Inc. On March 8, 2001, the City Commission authorized Resolution No. 01-212 awarding the bid to Elite Fire and Safety Equipment, Inc., for the procurement of firefighting hoses, on an as needed, when needed contract basis, for one (1) year with the option to renew for two (2) additional one- year periods, at a first fiscal year total amount not to exceed $8,000. However, the Department has depleted all funds for this fiscal year and has prepared the necessary paperwork to increase the current contract. Should you approve to increase Resolution No. 01-212, funding is available in account number 80000.280601.6.709 in an amount not to exceed $35,741.00. These funds are reimbursable by FEMA. Bryso Director Department of Fire -Rescue FM-072.doc The Department of Fire -Rescue respectfully requests your approval for an Emergency. Purchase in an amount not to exceed $128,217.40 for the purchase of four (4) water pumps including hoses and accessories. Funding is available as follows, S100,000 from C.I.P. account number 352263 and 528,217.40 from C.I.P. account number 352259. Based on your approval granted on the attached memorandum for the purchase of water pumps for stormwater flooding emergencies, the Departments of Fire -Rescue and Public Works prepared specifications and submitted than to seven (7) companies for bids. The bids were evaluated and the most _responsive bidder, Global Pump, Co., was asked io provide a sample pump and provide a demonstration to Public Works employees. To avoid a possible disastrous situation in our high flood zones, particularly in the Fiagami area, it is imperative that we have these (4) pumps available and ready to use when Hurricane season begins on June 1, 2001.
