in an amount not to exceed $128,217.40 for the purchase of four (4) water pumps including hoses
and accessories. Funding is available as follows, $100,000 from C.I.P. account number 352263

Based on your approval granted on the attached memorandum for the purchase of water pumps
for stormwater flooding emergencies, the Departments of Fire -Rescue and Public Works
prepared specifications and submitted them to seven (7) companies for bids. The bids were
evaluated and the most responsive bidder, Global Pump, Co., was asked 'to provide a sample
pump and provide a demonstration to Public Works employees.
To avoid a possible disastrous situation in our high flood zones, particularly in the Flagami area,
it is imperative that we have these (4) pumps available and ready to use when Hurricane season
begins on June 1, 2001.
