RESOLUTION NO. 03— 327
A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER, FROM MARCH 27, 2003 THROUGH
APRIL 30, 2003, TO PROVIDE CERTAIN
RETIREMENT BENEFITS AS LISTED ON
"ATTACHMENT A," NOT -OTHERWISE AUTHORIZED BY
ORDINANCE, RESOLUTION OR OTHER APPLICABLE
LAW TO EXECUTIVE EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to provide
certain retirement benefits not otherwise authorized by
ordinance, resolution or other applicable law as listed on
"Attachment A" to retiring Executive employees of the City of
Miami From March 27, 2003 through April 30,2003.

Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayorll

1� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become
effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was
passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the
City Commission.

Rescinded Executive Benefits
• Group Medical
■ 20 years or more of service
- 100% contribution of premium for employee
- 60% contribution of premium for dependents
15 years or more of service
- 75% contribution of premium for employee
- 40% contribution of premium for dependents
• Life Insurance - employee can obtain policy if pays premium
■ $15,000 policy, if under age 61
■ $13,000 policy, if over age 61

Retirement Benefits for
Executive Employees

Recommendation:
I would respectfully recommend that the City Commission favorably consider the
adoption of the attached resolution reinstating the previously rescinded executive benefits
to certain executive employees of the City of Miami.
Background:
On January 6, 2003, certain benefits for executive employees at the City of Miami
were rescinded. Employees who chose to retire on or after that date were no longer
entitled to the benefits listed in Attachment A. The attached Resolution would allow the
City Manager to reinstate the previously rescinded benefits, from March 27, 2003
through April 30, 2003, thus allowing those employees who choose to retire during this
period to claim the benefits.
