Funds will be allocated from the Department of Fire -Rescue Account Code Nos. 001000.280601.6.709 ($27,504) and 001000.280701.6.709 (1,300), subject to availability of funds. BACKGROUND The Department of Fire -Rescue needs an open contract with a provider, on an as needed, when needed basis, for the acquisition of firefighting hoses and attachments to be used by the emergency rescue personnel. Due to the nature of Fire -Rescue work, damage and wear to firefighting hoses is inevitable. In order for the Department of Fire -Rescue to provide fire suppression and rescue services to the City, proper protective gear is essential. The requested firefighting gear and attachments will be used by the Department of Fire -Rescue to replace worn and damaged fire hoses on an as needed, when needed basis. This purchase will not only ensure the protection of the fire -rescue personnel while performing their duties but will allow the Department of Fire -Rescue to respond to any emergencies with all the equipment necessary to ensure the safety of our citizens. The Department of Fire -Rescue has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 01-02-130. The bid from Biscayne -Havana Fire & Safety, Inc., was deemed the lowest most responsible and responsive bidder, meeting specifications and is, therefore recommended for the award.
