ORDINANCE NO. 12 3 87
AN ORDINANCE OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND
ENTITLED "CORAL GABLES HOSPITAL/TENET
FOUNDATION CONTRIBUTION" AND APPROPRIATING
FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION OF SAME, IN THE
AMOUNT OF $2,000, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM
CORAL GABLES HOSPITAL/TENET SOUTH FLORIDA
HEALTHSYSTEM AND TENET FOUNDATION;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE
GRANT AWARD AND TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY
ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE; CONTAINING A
REPEALER PROVISION, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has been awarded a grant, in the
amount of $2,000, from the Coral Gables Hospital/Tenet South
Florida HealthSystem and Tenet Foundation to be used by the
Department of Fire -Rescue to purchase medical equipment, as set
forth in the grant award; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Manager to accept
the grant and to establish a Special Revenue Fund for the
appropriation of said grant award;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Ordinance are adopted by reference and
incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is
established and resources are appropriated as described below:
FUND TITLED: Coral Gables Hospital/Tenet Foundation
Contribution
(FY 12002-03)
RESOURCES: Coral Gables Hospital/Tenet South
Florida HealthSystem and Tenet
Foundation $2,000
APPROPRIATIONS: $2,000
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized!/ to accept
the grant from the Coral Gables Hospital/Tenet South Florida and
Tenet Foundation and to execute the necessary document(s), in a
form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose.
Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar
as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of
this Ordinance are repealed.
Section 5. If any section, part of section, paragraph,
clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the
remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected.
1� The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with
all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney,
including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.

(30) days after final reading and adoption thereof.Z'

vetoed by the Mayor within ten days from the date it was passed

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Ordinance accepting a grant
in the amount of $2,000 from the Coral Gables Hospital/Tenet South Florida HealthSystem and Tenet
Foundation. Said grant will be used by the Department of Fire -Rescue for the purchase of medical
equipment. In addition, the Ordinance establishes a Special Revenue Fund entitled "Coral Gables
Hospital/Tenet Foundation Contribution" and appropriating said funds for the operation of same in the
amount of $2,000.
BACKGROUND
The Department of Fire -Rescue has been granted a donation in the amount of $2,000 from Coral Gables
Hospital/Tenet South Florida Health System and Tenet Foundation. This grant will be used by the
Department of Fire -Rescue for the purchase of medical pelican storage cases with inserts to carry the
department's emergency medical, trauma and airway supplies. In addition, a portion of the funds will be
used to reward our emergency medical services (EMS) members for the year of 2003. The City of Miami
Department of Fire -Rescue has been fortunate in the past to be a recipient of this grant.
The Tenet Healthcare Foundation was established in 1998 by Tenet Healthcare Corporation to provide
grants to worthy organizations for a variety of charitable purposes. The Foundation directs the majority
of its funding to help meet unmet or underserved health care needs in the communities in which Tenet
operate its hospitals and other facilities.
Coral Gables Hospital is one of the 116 hospitals of Tenet HealthSystem that strives not only to provide
excellent health care, but also to support organizations such as the City of Miami, which furthers health
and wellness for the South Florida community.
It is now appropriate to accept said grant, establish a special revenue fund, and appropriate the said grant
award therein for fiscal year 2002-2003.

The Department of Fire -Rescue respectfully requests your approval to accept a donation in the
amount of $2,000 from Coral Gables Hospital/Tenet South Florida Health System and Tenet
Foundation. Said grant will be used by the Department of Fire -Rescue for the purchase of

DONATION TO
MIAMI FIRE -RESCUE
Our department would like to thank Coral Gables Hospital and Tenet Healthcare
Foundation for their intended gracious donation. We are very pleased to be able
to work with Coral Gables hospital to serve the needs of our patients and we
appreciate the quality that your staff exhibits towards our patients and our crews.
Our department's need for EMS equipment is in excess of $80,000 for FY 2003.
Any funds received from your hospital would go toward the purchase of one or
some of the following items:
1. LP12 Battery Charger
2. Modified CPR Thumper
3. LSU Suction Unit
4. Pulse Ox and accessories
5. Pelican Storage Cases with inserts to cavy our Medical, Trauma and
Airway Supplies in.

AN Interested persons may appear at the meeting and may be heard
with respect to the proposed ordinances. Should any person desire to ap-
peal any decision of the City Commission with respect to any matter to be
considered as this meeting, that person shall ensure that a verbatim
record of the proceedings is made Including all testimony and evidence
upon which any appeal may be based.
