C.A.S.A. — Colombian American Service Association, Inc woutd like to request a personal
appearance for the commission on a police and fire Fee waivers for a event schedulW for June 1,
2003 at Bayfront Park.
C.A.S.A. is a 30I03 nonprofit organization serving the Hispanic immignmt: community in
Miami -Dade County since 1994. CA.S:A.'s mission is to provide direct Services to the
community through legal counseling, advocacy, education, outreach services, crisis case
management and infonnLation and rofcrral. Part of C.A.S.A's mission is to bring W tlLc
community cultural and musical events that promote culture vwhile portraying a positive image of
Colombia and its people.

Sore rata Colotnbiana is a musical cultural experience bringing top artist from various Latin
Amuriman countries in particular, Colombian artists. This family event promotes a cross -vulture
of sounds and entertainment that suits the needs of the entire age spectrum. TI-iis year we expect
to bring artists such as Ateraiopelados, Andres Cepeda and Cabas.
As an organization committed to the Miami -Dade County community, we geese you] support in
making skis event a great success and helping C.A.S.A. continue serve the Hispanic community

RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended the City. Commission approve the Columbian
American Service Association's (C.A.S.A.) request to appropriate funds in the
amount not to exceed $7,200.00 from the Special Events fund for city services of
.police and fire personnel.
BACKGROUND
Ms. Esperanza Martinez, Executive Director of C.A.S.A. requests a personal
appearance before the City Commission on May 22nd, 2003 to seek waivers of
funds in the amount not to exceed $7,200.00 for the event to be held at Bayfront
Park on June 1, 2003. The administration recommends $7,200.00 be allocated
from the Special Events fund to The Columbian American Service Association.
C.A.S.A. is a non for profit organization that serves the Hispanic immigrant
community in Miami -Dade providing direct services through legal counseling,
advocacy, education and outreach programs. C.A.S.A.'s mission is to bring the
community cultural and musical events that promote culture while portraying a
positive image of Columbia and its people.
