Thompson REFERENCES: City Clerk ENCLOSURES: January 27, 2003 FILE : Special Commission Meeting — January 28, 2003 Our office is in receipt of a memorandum from Mayor Manuel A. Diaz calling a Special Commission meeting for Tuesday, January 28, 2003, beginning at 3:30 p.m. (copy attached) at the Miami Arena, in the VIP Room, 701 Arena Boulevard, Miami, Florida. The purpose of said meeting is to allow the Commission to consider and approve the selection of Joe Arriola as the City Manager/Chief Executive Officer of the City of Miami, pursuant to the requirements listed in Section 4(g)(6) of the City Charter. City Code Section 2-33(k) states: "Special Meetings. Nothing in this section shall prohibit either the mayor, or the commissioner designated as the presiding officer of the city commission, or three city commissioners, upon the written notice delivered to the city clerk, from calling special meetings at any time set by the city clerk, provided that reasonable advance notice of same is given to the mayor, each member of the commission, city manger, city attorney and the public. No business shall be conducted or a vote taken at a special city commission meeting on business other that the subject(s) for which the special meeting is called." Pursuant to the above-cited section of the City Code, our office will appropriately advertise and post notice of this special meeting on the Public Meetings Calendar, notify the Office of Communications of same and request that said notice be sent out to all media via "blast fax", televised on our governmental access channel and posted at City Hall, the Miami Riverside Center and at the Miami Arena. cc: Carlos A.
