Zahralban, Fire Chief artment of Fire -Rescue nea�acEs �' r ant;tosu�aasa This memo serves as a respectful request to reclassify Fire's current Fire Protection Engineer (2035) vacancy to a brand-new classification entitled "Senior Fire Protection Engineer", for which the proposed job description and salary range have been established under the guidance of the Department of Human Resources, Because this neNN classification shall be directly involved with the review of building plans and the perfon-nance of fire inspections related to new construction within the City of Miami, its salary shall be 100% funded by the building Reserve Fund, as per F.S. 553.80. The Senior Fire Protection Engineer is a critical component to the success of our mission to provide residents, visitors, and businesses of the City with professional, knowledgeable, and experienced fire prevention personnel to ensure that structures contain functional fire protection and life safety features, where required. This ceill be a high -le, el supervisory position responsible for overseeing the work of a team of professional engineers and technical personnel involved in the review, analysis, approval. and/or disappro-al of complex design documents to include building construction, fire detection/alarm, fire sprinkler. smoke control, water storage/distribution, and pre- engineered fire protection systems for compliance with applicable ordinances. codes, standards, and engineering principles. The nature of "ork requires the use of sound and extensive judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering problems, determining prograrn objectives and requirements, organising projects and programs, and developing standards and guidelines for the activities of the Fire Protection Engineering Section within the Department of Fire -Rescue.
