Mr. Frank K. Rollason
Executive Director

Dear Mr. Rollason:
This letter is being written to express our support for the construction of an Outreach
Educational Center at the courtyard of the New Arena Square property located at 275
N.W. 10th Street. The Wolfson Campus of Miami Dade College is willing to offer
educational courses in the areas of basic skills, English literacy, and workforce training
addressed to the children and adults of the Overtown community.
Mr. Salomon Yuken, President of New Arena Square North & South Ltd., estimates that
the construction of a 2000 sq. ft. structure would cost approximately $170,000. Academic
administrators of the College estimate that the cost of educational furniture and
equipment would be about $150,000. The total cost of the project would be $320,000. In
addition, Mr. Yuken states that the New Arena Square will not charge any rents on the
Outreach Education Center and will provide security for the facility 24 hours a day and 7
days a week.
Educational opportunities for disadvantaged communities are critical to achieve
economic and workforce development. We believe that the engagement of Miami Dade
College in this project will generate many benefits to the area.
Your consideration to this funding request of $320,000 will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
_'y )r47
