BACKGROUND
The City of Miami ("City") created the Anti -Poverty Initiative to address poverty and focus on providing
support to its residents.
Rebuilding Together Miami- Dade, Inc. (organization) has been dedicated to aiding the most vulnerable
homeowners with home repair and modification services for over 25 years. The Safe and Healthy Homes
in Little Bahamas will utilize a checklist will 25 health and safety priorities to address hazards affecting the
safety, health, and/or accessibility of homes owned by 32 low-income homeowners 62 years of age and
older. Their Tree Pruning Program will provide pruning services to low-income homes to aid with hurricane
preparedness.
As the Organization is familiar with the needs of the community and the district, it would be advantageous
for the City to expedite the allocation and waive procurement requirements at this time. Providing these
funds to the Organization will allow local businesses to obtain these services immediately, with no added
time for the procurement process, which could take over 30-40 days.
RECOMMENDATION
In light of the above stated, approval of a waiver of the formal requirements of competitive scaled bidding
methods as not being practicable or advantageous to the City as set forth in the City Code of Ordinances,
as a , specifically Section 18-85 (A), and the affirmation of these written findings and the forwarding
of e ame the City Commission for ratification by a four -fifths vote is respectfully requested.
