AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF SECTION 8 HOUSING PROGRAM FUNDS,

IN THE PROJECTED AMOUNT OF $482,900.00 FOR PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION,
FOR A TOTAL PROJECTED AMOUNT OF $5,136,700.00 FROM FISCAL YEAR 2022-
2023 ANNUAL CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF
HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO
THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE ACCEPTANCE
OF THE ACTUAL AMOUNT OF SECTION 8 HOUSING PROGRAM FUNDS WHEN
MADE AVAILABLE.
Background of Item:
The City of Miami ("City") has four hundred forty-three (443) units under Section 8
contracts.
The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") has
advised the City that the projected allocation for the Section 8 Housing Program for
Fiscal Year 2022-2023 is available in the amount of $4,653,800.00 for rental assistance
payments and $482,900.00 for program administration, for a total projected amount of
$5,136,700.00.
The numbers stated herein are projections, City Administration may need to adjust the
numbers once released by HUD.
The City's Administration recommends the acceptance of Section 8 Funds for Fiscal
Year 2022-2023 in the total estimated amount of $5,136,700.00.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE
ACCEPTANCE OF SECTION 8 HOUSING PROGRAM FUNDS, IN THE PROJECTED
AMOUNT OF $4,653,800.00 FOR RENTAL ASSISTANCE, AND IN THE PROJECTED
AMOUNT OF $482,900.00 FOR PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION, FOR A TOTAL
PROJECTED AMOUNT OF $5,136,700.00 FROM FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023 ANNUAL
CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND
URBAN DEVELOPMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE
AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has four hundred forty-three (443) units under
Section 8 contracts; and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD")
has advised the City that the projected allocation for the Section 8 Housing Program for Fiscal
Year 2022-2023 shall be available in the projected amount of $4,653,800.00 for rental
assistance payments and the projected amount of $482,900.00 for program administration, for a
total projected amount of $5,136,700.00; and
WHEREAS, the figures stated herein are projections, and the City Administration may
need to adjust the figures once the final figures are released by HUD; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends the acceptance of Section 8 Funds for
Fiscal Year 2022-2023 in the total estimated amount of $5,136,700.00;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The acceptance of Section 8 Housing Program funds in the projected amount
of $4,653,800.00 for rental assistance and in the projected amount of $482,900.00 for program
administration, for a total projected amount of $5,136,700.00 for Fiscal Year 2022-2023, is
authorized.'
Section 3. These allocations will be adjusted in direct proportion to the actual allocation
of Section 8 funds provided by HUD for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 without the need for further City
Commission action.
Section 4. The City Manager is authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all
necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2

The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be
imposed, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
Z If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
