RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the CRA Board of Directors approve the attached resolution
acknowledging and accepting for inventory and financial records, the artworks of CRA "Artist in
Residence", Ernest King resulting from the pilot program and Artist in Resident Agreement dated
February 2001, and further authorizing the Executive Director to acquire artwork from each of the
seven (7) Haitian Artists flown directly from Haiti for the Annual "Little Haiti" Art Exhibit showcased
within the Omni Redevelopment Area, at the Ice Palace located at 59 NW 14'h Street, in an amount not
to exceed $10,000 subject to the availability of SEOPW TIF funds account number 689001.550108.
BACKGROUND
The CRA's Artist in Residence Program became effective since February 2001. The resulting
agreement specified that the Artist would create work for the CRA, the CRA has never formally
accepted artwork of the Resident Artist, Mr. Ernest King; who has masterfully captured the essence of
many historic buildings throughout Overtown. In the same light, the CRA is interested in creating a
unique art/museum district that it may showcase acquired artworks from the various cultural groups
residing within the Redevelopment areas.
