ITEM 7 .1 BOBBIE MUMFORD AND MARY CONWAY: BEISWENGER, HOCH AND ASSOCIATES PRESENTATION PORT OF MIAMI PROJECT L O /CRA SEOPW/CRA Martinez, Esperanza From: Mary Conway [Mary.Conway@geopak.com] rent: Wednesday, November 13, 2002 7:38 AM r Martinez, Esperanza *.c: Cathy Owen; Delfin A. Molins; Huston Gibson; Rob Curtis; Becky Hope; Ana Arvelo; Bobbie Mumford Subject: November 25 CRA Meeting Newsletter proj Port Location Map desc 110802.do... 110602r.doc Good morning, Esperanza. Bobbie advised that you had requested the following information in support of our request to be placed on the November CRA Board Meeting agenda to present the I-95 Port Access Ramps project. I-95 Access Ramp Project Description Project Maps Powerpoint Presentation Attached are Word files showing both the project description and the project location map. The PowerPoint presentation is too large to submit via e-mail and will need to be hand delivered on cd. Please advise where the cd should be delivered. Thank you. C.ry H. Conway, P.E. Director, Production Management Beiswenger, Hoch and Associates, Inc. 1190 N.E. 163rd Street, Suite 203 P.O. Box 1368 North Miami Beach, FL 33160 Phone 305-944-5151 Ext. 411 Fax 305-948-6290 Cell 305-582-9445 C n I L.J S S E ® 1 UNINI / CRA SEOPW / GRA N The purpose of the project is to provide a route to and from the Port of Miami using NE/NW 5th and 6th Streets and ramps at 1-95. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Port of Miami have launched the Project Development and Environmental (PD&E) Study for this project. The project includes multiple proposed improvements. First, both NE/NW 5th and 6th Streets will be modified for Port traffic access. Second, a new 1-95 on ramp to westbound SR 836 will be provided. This new access ramp will start at either NW 6th Street or NW 8th Street. The NW 6t Street alternative will require that NW 7th Street be permanently closed underneath 1-95 to accommodate the new ramp and that NW 3`d Court be reduced from 4 to 3 lanes between NW 5th and 8th Streets. Slight right of way acquisition will also be required on the west side of NW 3`d Court between NW 5tt' and 7th Streets. The NW 8th Street alternative will require that NW 8th Street be permanently closed to eastbound traffic underneath 1-95. Third, the existing northbound 1-95 on ramp at NW 8th Street will be modified to increase the vertical clearance to facilitate usage by high trucks. Fourth, a new hook ramp from southbound NW 3`d Avenue connecting directly to the existing northbound 1-95 on ramp will be provided to more directly connect the Overtown community to the interstate. Lastly, NW 5th, 6tt' and 8th Streets will be modified under the 1-95 bridges to increase the vertical clearances to facilitate usage by high trucks.
