HomeMy WebLinkAboutSEOPW-CRA-R-01-0142SEOPW/CRA ITEM 10 S-F, Op'VV'`/CRA RESOLUTION NO. it 1 4 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ("CRA") AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO MEET WITH THE CITY MANAGER FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI TO IDENTIFY REAL PROPERTY WITHIN THE CRA THAT IS EXPERIENCING FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES AND WHICH MAY SERVE FOR CRA RELOCATION PURPOSES AS DEFINED BY PERTINENT REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE CRA. WHEREAS, the CRA is responsible for carrying out community redevelopment activities and projects in the CRA Redevelopment Area established pursuant to the CRA Redevelopment Plan; and WHEREAS, said redevelopment activities may result in the temporary displacement of residents and/or businesses; and WHEREAS, the CPA desires to acquire property for accommodating those individuals and/or businesses directly affected by the redevelopment activity. CFW/CRA 01-. 142 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Executive Director is authorized to meet with the City Manager for the City of Miami to identify real property within the CRA that is experiencing financial difficulties and which may serve for CRA relocation purposes as defined by pertinent regulations governing the CRA. Lewis Acting Executive Director RECOMMENDATION DATE: December 5, 2001 FILE: SUBJECX.uthorizing the Executive Director to meet with the City Manager to identify property that may acquired for the purpose of relocation as defined REFEREVIing regulations ENCLOSkRE It is recommended that the Board of Directors of the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Miami ("CRA") approve the attached Resolution authorizing the Executive Director to meet with the City Manager to identify real property located within the CRA having financial difficulties with the City of Miami where subject property may serve for the purpose of "Relocation" as defined by the pertinent regulations governing the CRA. BACKGROUND As a part of redevelopment activity the occasion arises where said activity directly cause the temporary displacement of residents and/or businesses within the defined area. The Redevelopment Act of 1969, Federal and other regulations contains provisions that will allow an Agency to make available, locations to house those displaced by redevelopment activity. In so doing, the CRA is within its purview to acquire property to serve the purpose of accommodating those individuals and/or businesses directly affected by redevelopment activity.
