RESOLUTION NO. SEOPW/CRA 01 S
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ("CRA")
AUTHORIZING THE CRA'S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO
SEEK THE DESIGNATION OF THE WARD ROOMING HOUSE
AS AN "HISTORIC PROPERTY" BY THE CRA BOARD AND
BY THE CITY OF MIAMI, NOT WITHSTANDING ANY TITLE
DEFECTS, AND (2) FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE
EXPENDITURE OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION
DESIGNATED FUNDS FROM THE AVAILABLE
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FUNDS FOR THE
RESTORATION OF THE WARD ROOMING HOUSE AND (3)
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO PROCEED
WITH A PROGRAMMING PLAN FOR THE WARD ROOMING
HOUSE TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE BOARD WITHIN 120
DAYS.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami approved and adopted the Southeast
Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Plan pursuant to Resolution Nos. 82-
755 and 85-1247 (the "Redevelopment Plan"); and
WHEREAS, the CRA is responsible for carrying out community redevelopment
activities and projects in the Southeast Overtown/Park West Redevelopment Area (the
"Redevelopment Area") established pursuant to the Redevelopment Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of CRA has authorized the CRA to request
that the City of Miami not demolish structures with historic, cultural and/or architectural
significance within the Redevelopment Area without the approval of the CRA pursuant to
CRA resolution SEOPW/CRA R-00-53; and
WHEREAS, the CRA desires to seek the designation of the Ward Rooming
House as an "historic property" by the CRA Board and by the City of Miami, not
withstanding any title defects; and
WHEREAS, the CRA desires to seek the expenditure of Historic Preservation
designated funds from available Community Development funds for the restoration of the
Ward Rooming House; and
WHEREAS, the CRA desires to have approval for the Executive Director to
proceed with a programming plan for the Ward Rooming House to be submitted to the
Board within 120 days.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this
Resolution are incorporated herein as is fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The Board of Directors of the CRA hereby designates the Ward
Rooming House as an historic property notwithstanding title defects.
Section 3. The Board of Directors of the CRA hereby authorizes the CRA to
seek the expenditure of Historic Preservation designated funds from available
Community Development funds for the restoration of the Ward Rooming House.
Section 4. The Board of Directors of the CRA hereby requests that the
Executive Director proceed with a programming plan for the Ward Rooming House to be
submitted back to the Board within 120 days
Section 5. The Board of Directors of the CRA hereby requires that each
owner acknowledges and complies with their respective agreement made with the CRA.
Section 6. The resolution shall be effective upon its adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on this 21 'h day of May, 2001.

It is recommended that the Southeast Overtown/Parkwest Community Redevelopment Agency.
(CRA) approve the designation of the Ward Rooming House as a "historic property" as well as
authorizing the expenditure of historical preservation designated funds and in additional; authorize
the Executive Director to proceed with a programming plan for said property.

The attached resolution approves the designation of the Ward Rooming House as a historic
property it also authorizes the expenditure of historical preservation designated funds.
