SEOPW/CRA ITEM 3F SEOPW/CR RESOLUTION NO. 0 1-- 61 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ("CRA") AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO PROVIDE THE BLACK ARCHIVES HISTORY AND RESEARCH FOUNDATION OF SOUTH FLORIDA, INC. ("THE BLACK ARCHIVES FOUNDATION") WITH STAFF ASSISTANCE FOR "THE HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIAMI EVENT" AND PROVIDE AN IN -KIND GRANT FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $10,000. WHEREAS, the CRA is responsible for carrying out community redevelopment activities and projects in the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Area established pursuant to the CRA Redevelopment Plan; and WHEREAS,, the CRA desires to provide The Black Archives Foundation with staff help for "The Happy Birthday Miami Event" scheduled for Friday, July 27, 2001, and provide an in -kind grant for an amount not to exceed $10,000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: SEOPW/CM 01 - 61 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The CPA authorizes the Executive Director to provide The Black Archives Foundation with staff help for "The Happy Birthday Miami Event" scheduled for Friday, July 27, 2001, and provide in -kind support for an amount not to exceed $10,000. Section 3. The Executive Director is directed to request in -kind support from the City of Miami Commission for this event. Section 4. The Resolution shall be effective upon its adoption. A. TEELE : # E3 • • • Ed Williams, 2001Jazz Concert -Host at the Lyric Theater, has worked in Harlern and in 1965 created, produced, and hosted a jazz program entitled, "Maiden Voyager." He worked at CBS radio and later distinguished himself as a concert -host at all the major concert halls including Radio City, Carnegie, and Lincoln Center. He has contributed Articles, essays, and interviews with musicians to various publications and newspapers. He did interview and narrations for the BBC and hosted 'Jazz Alive," a jazz program on National Public Radio from Washington, D.C. Ed has worked with Miles Davis. Duke Ellington. Sarah Vaughn, Carmen McRae, Herbie Hancock, George Benson, Ron Carter, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Short, and literally countless other luminaries of the arts. Ed Williams was the first African -American announcer to work on staff at ice ABC television network. During his tenure at ABC he worked on such programs as "Good Morning America.
