A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ("CRA") APPROVING THE JOHNSON & WALES PROJECT AND THE PHOTO JOURNALIST PROJECT AS AUTHORIZED PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE CRA AND DIRECTING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO IDENTIFY SUFFICIENT FUNDING FOR THE PROJECTS. WHEREAS, the City of Miami approved and adopted the CRA Redevelopment Plan pursuant to Resolution Nos. 82-755 and 85-247 (the "Redevelopment Plan") and WHEREAS, the CPA is responsible for carrying out community redevelopment activities and projects in the CRA Redevelopment Area established pursuant to the Redevelopment Plan; and WHEREAS, the CRA desires to approve the Johnson & Wales Project and the Photo Journalist Project as authorized projects and activities of the CRA. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Board of Directors of the CRA hereby approves the Johnson & Wales Project and the Photo Journalist Project as authorized projects and activities of the CRA and directs the Executive Director to identify adequate funding to properly carry out the goals and objectives of each of these projects. SEOPW/C+RA A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ("CRA") AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO ENTER INTO A COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH JOHNSON AND WALES UNIVERSITY WHEREBY JOHNSON AND WALES UNIVERSITY WILL IMPLEMENT A RESTAURANT TRAINING PROGRAM IN THE OVERTOWN AREA INCORPORATING OVERTOWN RESIDENTS AND OVERTOWN RESTAURANTS. WHEREAS, the City of Miami approved and adopted the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Plan pursuant to Resolution Nos. 82-755 and 85-1247(the "Redevelopment Plan"); and WHEREAS, the CRA is responsible for carrying out community redevelopment activities and projects in the Southeast Overtown/ Park West Community Redevelopment Area (the "Redevelopment Area") established pursuant to the Redevelopment Plan; and WHEREAS, the CRA is desirous of entering into a cooperative agreement with Johnson and Wales University in which the CRA will provide funding to Johnson and Wales for implementing a restaurant training program benefiting the redevelopment area, its residents and business. WHEREAS, Johnson and Wales is desirous of implementing a program designed to property train Overtown Restaurant employees and management. WHEREAS, the CRA will identify the participants sites and locations for the training program. WHEREAS, Johnson and Wales are available to serve as consultants to Civil Cadd Engineering regarding the remodeling plans for certain restaurants in the redevelopment area. SE®PW/CRA 01 • • ITEM 21 WHEREAS, the cost of the Restaurant Training program for 20 participants is estimated to be $48,000. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SEO/PW CRA AND OMNI CRA CREATED BY THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals findings contained in the preamble to this Resolution are incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Board of Directors of CRA hereby authorizes the Executive Director of the CRA to enter into a cooperative agreement with Johnson and Wales University to implement the Restaurant Training Program and to identify adequate funding to properly carryout the goals and objective of the program. February 20, 2001 " 3liBJECT Johnson and Wales Cooperative Agreement REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: FILE : It is recommended that the CRA Board approve the attached resolution authorizing the Executive Director to enter into a cooperative agreement with Johnson & Wales University in which Johnson & Wales will provide for the implementation of a Restaurant Training Program in the Overtown redevelopment area. BACKGROUND The CRA has received a proposal from Johnson & Wales University to offer Restaurant Training to Business in the redevelopment area of Overtown. The Executive Director is seeking authorization to negotiate a cooperative agreement in which the terms, goals and objectives of the proposal are in corporate into a cooperative agreement between the CRA and Johnson & Wales. Certain Overtown Restaurants will receive formal training in areas addressing the providing of quality customer service. The estimated cost of this Project is $48,000 and will include the formal training of 20 restaurant employees. Funding Source: CDBG or General Funds Account Number: Not Yet Determined SEOPWI CR&
