RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the CRA Board of Directors approve the attached resolution authorizing the
Executive Director to enter into an agreement with the Technology Center Of The Americas in a. form
acceptable to the City Attorney.
BACKGROUND
On May 17, 2000, the CRA committed to providing incentives for the development of the Technology
• Center of the Americas ("TECOTA") equal to at least $750,000.00 and reaching as much as $1.5
million. This project has started a trend for development as a technology corridor and will facilitate the
trend over the next several years for revitalizing the Redevelopment Area and Miami Downtown and
significantly increase the Ad -Valorem Tax Base for the elimination of the blight area of the SEO/PW
Redevelopment Area.
As this project further represents the Network Access Point ("NAP"), it provides the virtual connection
between North and South America. The CRA believes that the economic impact of having the
technology corridor and the NAP will be immense.
