RESOLUTION NO. OMNIlCRA R-99-14
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COMMUNITY
REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (THE "CRA") TO
DEVELOP A REPURCHASE PROGRAM TO ALLOW THE
OWNERS OF BUILDINGS OF HISTORIC OR
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE THE RIGHT TO
REACQUIRE AN INTEREST IN SAME AFTER
REDEVELOPMENT BY THE CRA AND AUTHORIZING
THE CRA TO IDENTIFY AND NEGOTIATE TO
PURCHASE BUILDINGS OF SIGNIFICANT
HISTORICAL OR CULTURAL VALUE LOCATED
WITHIN REDEVELOPMENT AREAS FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT OF SPECIAL PROJECTS AND IN
ORDER TO PRESERVE THE HISTORIC AND
CULTURAL VALUE OF THESE PROPERTIES TO THE
COMMUNITY.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami approved and adopted the Omni Area
Redevelopment Plan, pursuant to Resolution Nos. 86-868 and 87-604 (the
"Redevelopment Plan"); and
WHEREAS, the CRA is responsible for carrying out community
redevelopment activities and projects in the Omni Redevelopment Area (the
"Redevelopment Area") established pursuant to the Redevelopment Plan; and
WHEREAS, the purchase by the CRA of buildings of significant
historic or cultural value to the community located within the Redevelopment
Area is consistent with the Redevelopment Plan and will enhance and
preserve the historic and cultural value of these properties for the
community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to
this Resolution are incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The CRA shall develop a program (the "Repurchase
Program") to give the owners of historic or cultural buildings located within
the Redevelopment Areas acquired by the CRA the right to reacquire all or

an appropriate interest in the properties after redevelopment by the CRA.
The Repurchase Program developed by the CRA shall be presented to the
Overtown Advisory Board and then to the City of Miami Commission for
approval.
Section 3. Upon the approval of the Repurchase Plan, the CRA is
hereby authorized to negotiate to purchase buildings of significant historic or
cultural value located within the Redevelopment Area identified as parcels
SP-1 and SP-3 on Exhibit "A" attached hereto for use in connection with the
development of special projects and in order to preserve the historic and/or
cultural value of such buildings to the community, if necessary funds are
available. The purchase agreements shall be presented to the Board of
Directors of the CRA for approval.
Section 4. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its
adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on this 16th day of August, 1999.
