SEOPW/CRA R-99-15 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (THE "CRA") TO NEGOTIATE CONTRACTS WITH VENDORS PREAPPROVED BY THE CITY OF MIAMI FOR USE BY VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES OF THE CITY OF MIAMI FOR DEMOLITION OF STRUCTURES (TOTAL OR PARTIAL), AS APPROPRIATE, WITHIN THE NW 3RD AVENUE BUSINESS CORRIDOR PROJECT. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 98-592 adopted June 9, 1998, the City of Miami Commission designated NW 3rd Avenue, from NW 8th Street to NW 10th Street and NW 8th Street from NW 3rd Avenue to NW 4th Avenue as a "Priority Pilot Project" (the "NW 3rd Avenue Business Corridor Project"); and WHEREAS, the NW 3rd Avenue Business Corridor Project is intended to encourage commercial developments by providing financial assistance and infrastructure improvements for new and expanding businesses within the NW 3rd Avenue Business Corridor Project; and WHEREAS, the CRA desires to construct certain infrastructure improvements within the NW 3rd Avenue Business Corridor Project and demolish certain existing structures identified as P-4 and P-6 on Exhibit "A" attached hereto and perform internal demolition of the Ward Rooming House identified as SP-3 on Exhibit "B" attached hereto, either totally or partially, as appropriate, in connection with construction of certain infrastructure improvements and provide security protection for the remaining portion of any structures partially demolished, if any, as appropriate for the NW 3rd Avenue Business Corridor Project and any impacted area of the Historic Overtown Folklife Village; and WHEREAS, the CRA intends to promote and support new commercial developments and existing businesses within the NW 3rd Avenue Business Corridor by demolishing certain structures within the NW 3rd Avenue Business Corridor. WHEREAS, the expenditures of the CRA with respect to the demolition shall constitute a contribution toward the City of Miami's commitment to ma- ch-furids f6r ifie mpowerment Zone. SEOPW/CR �. 0 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI. Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Executive Director of the CRA is hereby authorized to negotiate contracts with vendors preapproved by the City of Miami for use by various departments and agencies of the City of Miami for the demolition of the structures identified on Exhibit "A" attached hereto (total or partial), as appropriate, within the NW 3rd Avenue Business Corridor Project and provide security protection for the remaining portion of any structures partially demolished, if any, as appropriate for the NW 3rd Avenue Business Corridor Project and any impacted area of the Historic Overtown Folklife Village to facilitate the development of the infrastructure improvements within the NW 3rd Avenue Business Corridor Project at an estimated cost of $90,000.00 and the internal demolition and security protection for the building described on Exhibit "B" attached hereto at an estimated cost of $40,000.00. The cost for the demolition shall be paid out of the $3,000,000 Community Development Block Grant Funds, assuming funds are provided. The contract(s) for the demolition and for the security protection shall be presented to the Board of Directors of the CRA for approval. Section 3.
