The Centner Academy proposal on N. Miami Avenue was met with great trepidation
by local residents due to concern about increased traffic in the area, which is more

significant for a school as parents generally drive their children to and from school.

NOW, with this proposal there are even graver concerns for the residents of BVE and
NE g
BVW. 1.) Upzoning and allowing commercial businesses to begin taking over
mpe

residential neighborhoods is a terrible precedent to set, especially for BVE/W which

I live only a few blocks from the current Centner Academy on NE 1st Ave. We bought
Rez
a house in this area to be in a nice, quiet residential area. When the school was first

getting permission/zoning to be built I had some serious reservations as a local

resident of a historic neighborhood (Buena Vista East). Even with our concerns of
ew.b

increased traffic on North Miami Ave and cars using our residential neighborhood as a

simply keep extending zoning to commercial in a fully residential area. This will set a

precedent for other organizations to do the same thing. Where does it end? The
st,
Centner Academy does not seem to care about the concerns of the local residents,
4136
they just want to expand their own business as much as they possibly can.

I live in 42 Street and have been severely affected by the opening of this school. The
increase in speeding traffic to cut through our street is extremely dangerous not to
mention a nuance. School busses rush down and all line up our street. The traffic
which already is severely congested will get worse. North Miami Avenue is too busy No
of an Avenue" for people to come to and abrupt stop for drop off and pick up. Cars
are flying down and then cutting through our neighborhood streets, putting everyone
in danger.
The rezoning should not be allowed in our residential neighborhood. Beyond the fact
that it does not fit into the neighborhood at all, the amount of traffic that will be
created by increasing height, means increased capacity. North Miami already cannot No
handle the traffic between the Design District and the 95 freeway ramp. There needs
to be clear reasoning, studies, etc. before this can even be considered.
