A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION SUPPORTING CITY OF
MIAMI ("CITY") SPONSORED BLACK HISTORY MONTH EVENTS FOR THE
MONTH OF FEBRUARY 2022 (COLLECTIVELY, "EVENTS"); ALLOCATING AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($20,000.00)
-DEPARTMENTAL ACCOUNT.
SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Christine King
WHEREAS, February has been designated Black History Month by an Act of Congress
and the Florida Legislature; and
various events
throughout the City to commemorate Black History Month ; and
WHEREAS, these Events are designed to provide a way to bring all our communities
together; and
WHEREAS, this will also include the creation and raising of banners to commemorate
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. along 62 Street; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-33(f) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as
amended, the City Commission, by a majority vote, hereby deems this Resolution to be of an
emergency nature;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby supports the Black History Month Events
in the City.
Section 3. Funds in an amount not to exceed twenty thousand dollars ($20,000.00) ae
allocated -departmental Account for the Events including the placement of
banners along 62 Avenue.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
