A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO TAKE ANY AND ALL ACTIONS TO INCREASE THE PAY OF CITY OF
MIAMI TROLLEY DRIVERS.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") wants to ensure that all of its employees and
workers are paid a fair and living wage; and
WHEREAS, the City's trolley service is an integral service provided by the City to its
residents and visitors alike; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 18/Article X of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended
("City Code"), titled "Finance/Living Wage Requirements for Service Contracts and City
Employees," requires that service contractors providing covered services to the City pay its
employees a living wage of no less than $15.00 per hour without health benefits; or a wage of
no less than $13.19 an hour with health benefits unless otherwise excluded in Article X of the
City Code; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 18/Article X of the City Code further provides that for covered
employees of the City, the City shall pay the living wage subject to collective bargaining
negotiations; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to increase the pay of City trolley drivers;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is directed to take any and all actions to increase the pay
of City of Miami trolley drivers.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
